Chicken stew

This recipe is a very easy chicken recipe. Though u may substitute chicken with potatoes and peas, cauliflower or egg.Instead of traditional coconut milk i have used cream.Thats cos i did not have coconut milk at hand and was lazy to obtain it the traditional way.But believe me the curry came out yummy.....

Chicken-500 gms
Onions- 2 medium, minced
ginger-1inch minced
garlic-5 minced
green chillies- 2slit
curry leaves- 1sprig
tomato-1 cubed
potatoes-2 medium, cubed
garam masala-1tbsp
turmeric-1tsp
mustard seeds-1tsp
peppe powder-11/2 tsp
cream -2 tbsp if using coconut milk u need thick milk-1/2 cup and thin milk-1/2 cup
salt as per taste

Heat oil in a pan.Splutter the mustard seeds.Add the onions, ginger garlic, green chillies  and curry leaves.add some salt to sweat the onions.Saute it till onions are cooked. Now add the turmeric and garam masala. throw in the tomato.Cook it for few minutes. Now add the chicken and potatoes.Add half a cup of water ( u may add the thin milk in case u r using coconut milk)and close the lid.Allow to cook  for 15 to 20 mins on a medium flame. When done add the cream or thick coconut milk.Sprinkle pepper powder and mix well.
Serve with appams, rice, bread or tortillas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
