Cheemachakka or kaddachakka known as bread fruit is loved by most of the malayalees but prefers it to be grown in the neighbour's yard.Most of the keralites will know what i mean.So coming back to the recipe...its one of my husbands fav especially with puttu.Sound strange !!!!!! i tot the same as well.
Ingredients;
bread fruit-21/2cups, peeled and cut into cubes
coconut grated 1 cup
shallots 4 to 5
green chilli-1
dry red chillies-4 to5+2
garam masala-1tsp
turmeric powder-1tsp
coriander powder-1tsp
ginger-1/2tsp-minced
mustard seeds-1tsp
curry leaves-1 to 2 sprig
oil-2tsp
jaggery-1/2tsp-(optional)
salt to taste
Boil the bread fruit with green chilli,turmeric and salt until cooked.Now heat a pan and dry roast the coconut.When half done add the shallots, red chilli,and ginger.Roast it till the coconut is brown colored then add the garam masala and coriander powder,Roast it till the raw taste is gone.Now grind the mixture into a powder then add water and grind it into a paste.Add this into the cooked breadfruit.Boil it.You may add jaggery if you like.Now season the mustard seeds , 2 redchilli and curry leaves in hot oil and pour it over the curry.
Serve it with rice,chappati or puttu.
