Pepper Chicken Chettinad

Chicken-750 gms cut into medium size
Whole spices-coriander seeds-2tbsp, fennel seed-1tbsp,cumin seed-1tsp,
cardamom-2pods,cloves-2,cinnamon-1inch,red chilli-5,pepper-1tbsp
garlic-2 big cloves
onion-2 medium sized finely chopped
tomatoes-2 medium
curry leaves-1sprig
salt as per taste

Boil the whole tomatoes till cooked.Blend it and keep it aside.Dry roast the whole spices.Grind the roasted whole spices, ginger and garlic.Heat the oil in a pan.Add the onions, curry leaves and saute it.When onions are translucent add the ground masala and salt.Cook it for 2 minutes and then add the chicken pieces.Coat the chicken with the masala Add 50 mls water close the lid and let it cook on a medium flame for 15 mins.Now add the tomato puree.Mix and leave it on stove for few minutes more.The gravy  should be thick.before switching off the flame add  crushed black pepper and mix well.
Serve with rice,appam or chappati!!!!!!!!!
