Dates-15 to 20,pitted and roughly chopped

Heat the oil and splutter the mustard seeds.Add the fenugreek seeds and allow it lightly brown.Add in the shallots,ginger and garlic.Allow this to roast for a minute and then add the chilli, fenugreek, salt and asafoetida. Let it roast and then add in the dates and coat it well.Pour in the water and allow to cook for a minute. Switch off the flame and when it cools down,pour in the vinegar.Store in a glass jar.
Best served with biryanis, dal rice or curd rice!!!!!
