Chemmeen Curry

This is my ma-in-laws recipe.I find it very easy and  flavourful.

Ingredients:
Prawns-15 to 20,cleaned
Chilli powder-11/2tsp
Coriander powder-1tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Shallots-8,cut lengthwise
Ginger-1/2inch,minced
Garlic-3 cloves,minced
Curry leaves-2sprigs
Coconut chips-2tbsps
Water-50mls
Coconut oil-1tbsp
Gambojee/Puli-2
Salt as per taste.

Mix the chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric, salt, shallots, ginger, garlic, curry leaves with the prawns.Coat it well.Add this into a pan/chatti with the water and puli.Cook it till the prawns are cooked and the gravy is of required consistency.Add the coconut oil before switching off the flame.Swirl the chatti to spread the oil.Leave it for 15 mins before serving.

Tastes best with rice or kappa!!!!!!

Yhis is almost like how we make it too...though we add some cumin seeds, dry roast all the spices and then put in the blender.
You're making me crave this cos my husband doesn't allow me to cook prawns this way cos it's too spicy for him! so the only time I get to eat is if I go to mom's house and she's got it on her menu..or atleast leftover in the fridge!
