On such a cold climate one of my comfort food is Kadala curry with puttu and I think there may be a few who agree with me.So today I would love to share my Kadala curry recipe.

Ingredients.
Kadala/Black chickpeas-1cup
Onion-2 finely chopped
Ginger-minced-1tbsp
Garlic-minced-1tbsp
Green chillies-2 slit
Curry leaves-1sprig
Whole spices-2 black cardamom,cinnamon-1inch,Cloves-2,Bay leaves-2
Mustard seeds-1tsp
coconut chips-1tbsp
Oil-2 to 4tbsp
Turmeric-1tsp
Chilli powder-1/2tbsp
coriander powder-1tbsp
garam masala-1tsp
pepper powder-1tsp
Salt as required.

Soak the dal for 4 to 5 hours in salt water. Now add it with whole spices, turmeric and salt and pressure cook it for 4 to 5 whistles.Let the cooker cool down. Now in a pan add 1tbsp oil.Add ginger garlic to the hot oil and roast it.Then add the onionscurry leaves and chillies.Let it cook until the onions are translucent.Add the chilli, coriander and garam masala powder.Roast it till the raw smell is gone..Add this mix to the dal and pressure cook it for 1 more whistle.Heat a tbsp of oil.Add mustards, when it splutters add the coconut and roast it.Add this to the curry.Sprinkle pepper powder finally on top.

Serve with puttu!!!!!!!! or chappati/rice
