Broccoli sabji or thoran

Broccoli is a vegetable belonging to the cabbage family.To me it looks like a green cauliflower.High in fibre and Vitamins C,K and A,its also said to have anti-carcinogenic properties.Usually I make soup of it but i made thoran and it tasted good.

Broccoli-250 gms or 1 head-mince it in a mini chopper or finely chopped
Coconut-gated 1/2 cup
green chilli-2
shallots-4 finely chopped keep 1tsp separate
curry leaves-4-5
salt to taste
dry red chilli-2 (optional)
fenugreek seeds-half tsp
oil-2 tsp
egg-1 optional

Take a bowl and mix together the broccoli,onions, green chilli, turmeric and salt.In a pan heat oil, splutter the mustard seed,fengreek seeds, add sliced shallots,curry leavesand red chilli.Fry it till onions are brown.This will give flavour to the oil.Add the broccoli mix to this.Mix it wee.Add water and cover it with a tight lid.Cook for 5 minutes.give it a stir and leave the pan open for water to evaporate.If you dislike the taste the broccoli you may add 1 beaten egg into this and cook till its done.Njoi!!!!!
